audacity, ipodder, wxGTK incompatibilities

OK, so:

audacity requires wxGTK without unicode

ipodder requires wxGTK with unicode

Is there a good way to resolve this?

Thanks for any hints.

These are some notes I made back in January ref. Audacity and unicode, which I have installed.

2.1.2006 06:35
new requirement for the latest audacity
* audacity-1.2.4b requires =x11-libs/wxGTK-2.4* emerged with USE='wxgtk1'
...
* New in >=wxGTK-2.4.2-r2:
* ------------------------
* You can now have gtk, gtk2 and unicode versions installed
* simultaneously. Use wxgtk1 if you would like a gtk1 lib.
* Put gtk2 and unicode in your USE flags to get those
* additional versions.

Make sure you have the latest wxGTK - it installs the unicode and non-unicode versions side by side.
Then unmask the latest audacity 1.2.x (nice to see portage up to date) and emerge that, because the wxGTK checks have changed to reflect the current wxGTK ebuilds, and it should then work.
