Help with creation, editing, or playback of sounds, images, or video. Amarok, audacious, mplayer, grip, cdparanoia and anything else that makes a sound or plays a video.

Hello,

Emerging the latest mplayer I get an error message during compilation that ends in

...
cc -c -I../libvo -I../../libvo -I/usr/X11R6/include -fno-PIC -O4 -march=pentium4 -mtune=pentium4 -pipe -ffast-math -fomit-frame-pointer -D_REENTRANT -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -D_LARGEFILE64_SOURCE -I. -I.. -I../osdep -I../libavutil -I/usr/include/freetype2 -I/usr/include/SDL -D_REENTRANT -I/usr/X11R6/include -DMPG12PLAY -o vo_gl2.o vo_gl2.c
vo_gl2.c: In function `getInternalFormat':
vo_gl2.c:130: error: `GL_R3_G3_B2' undeclared (first use in this function)
vo_gl2.c:130: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once
vo_gl2.c:130: error: for each function it appears in.)
make[1]: *** [vo_gl2.o] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/mplayer-1.0.20060217/work/mplayer-1.0.20060217/libvo'
make: *** [libvo/libvo.a] Error 2

!!! ERROR: media-video/mplayer-1.0.20060217 failed.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 476, Exitcode 2

Any ideas? Thanks,

That appears to be something from openGL, that is, a header file was not included or is not in the right place. Perhaps an

Code: Select all

emerge sync
and trying again will fix the problem?

I always sync before installing new or updates packages. Unfortunately, that doesn't help in this case. Grepping for the offending symbol in the source code directory yields 2 occurrences, both in the libvo subdirectory:

libvo/gl_common.c: MAP(GL_R3_G3_B2), MAP(GL_RGB4), MAP(GL_RGB5), MAP(GL_RGB8),
libvo/vo_gl2.c: return GL_R3_G3_B2;

The list of dependencies generated by emerge -pe mplayer has about 190 entries, but only opengl-update seems to be relevant. However, (re)emerging this package didn't help. I find it very strange that this symbol seems to be defined on other people's systems, but not on mine :-( Which package do I need (that mplayer doen't request explicitly) to define the symbol?

Further research shows the same symbols being used by my previous version of mplayer, which happens to be 1.0_pre7 and was installed on December 11, 2005. So some update since then must have removed the previously existing definition of GL_R3_G3_B2...
