xqf not working with quake4

  • Quote

Post by jstan » Sun Oct 23, 2005 3:12 pm

when I do an update on the quake4 server set I get zero servers returned, and two error messages in the console

unknown option "-q4s"
unknown option "-q4m

I am guessing these are malformed qstat flags, not sure why it wouldn't work out of the box though. Using xqf 1.0.4

I created an overlay and copied the ebuild, unfortunately when portage can't seem to download qstat-2.10.tar.gz from any of my mirrors

I am probably doing something really stupid here...

Code: Select all

mkdir /usr/local/portage2
*set overlay variable in /etc/make.conf*

Code: Select all

cp /usr/portage/games-util/qstat/qstat-2.8.ebuild /usr/local/portage2/games-util/qstat/qstat-2.10.ebuild

Code: Select all

emerge -s qstat

says "bad digest" in size of downloaded file

Code: Select all

ebuild /usr/local/portage2/games-util/qstat/qstat-2.10.ebuild digest
just sends portage out trying to download the file which of course is 404'ed

do I need to copy the 2.8 tarball to 2.10 as well? if so then I am really curious as to what is actually different than just insalling 2.8

you can download the tarball manually, then do the digest. normally portage should fall back to sourceforge, if it doesnt get that piece of software from the gentoo mirrors.

Rename /usr/portage/games-util/qstat/qstat-2.8.ebuild to qstat-2.9.ebuild
Do the "ebuild qstat-2.9.ebuild digest" thing
Emerge qstat and xqf

good shout jstan, worked a treat :)
aye gurke, grabbed 2.10 from sourceforge :D

oooh my first overlay, and just in case anyone else is left wondering exactly what variable to add to their make.conf ...

Code: Select all

PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage2"

adding

Code: Select all

=games-util/qstat-2.10
o /etc/portage/package.keywords is by far the easiest way to do this! Especially since you have to specify the same versions of nvidia-glx and nvidia-kernel anyway:

Code: Select all

=games-fps/quake4-bin-1.0.2147.12
=media-video/nvidia-glx-1.0.7676-r1
=media-video/nvidia-kernel-1.0.7676-r1
=games-util/qstat-2.10
app-admin/eselect
app-admin/eselect-opengl
then reemerging the aformentioned packages should have everything working proper,

Code: Select all

emerge nvidia-glx xqf
