gtkskan problems

Problems with emerge or ebuilds? Have a basic programming question about C, PHP, Perl, BASH or something else?

While emerging gtkskan:

This happens even when compiling by hand from the tarball grabbed from the project website. Since it seems that there are people who have successfully compiled this thing, just what in the hell is wrong with my system that it doesn't know what a FILE is?

Note: I did a
USE="-gnome" emerge gtkskan
