Having problems with the Gentoo Handbook? If you're still working your way through it, or just need some info before you start your install, this is the place. All other questions go elsewhere.
Is it possible to setup my cable modem account during the gentoo install process? I am an Australian telstra bigpond customer are there any other bigpond customers out there that can help?
telstra uses dhcp but with other distros i've had to use a login client called bpalogin but i can't use it durning the install process so i don't know what to do
Belive me, ive been asking telstra to put it on their publicly accessable server, no joy, seems like they dont like putting anything on dce-server.state.bigpond.net.au.
The only way i have found is to copy it onto a floppy disk (zug) or on a cdrom.
Alternately, you could scp it from another gentoo box during the install, which is how I do it.
I know that you are not the only one with this problem, I am sure that Australian Linux Users would greatly benefit from having bpalogin on the build CD. (hint for daniel robbins!)

You may want to submit a bug report at http://bugs.gentoo.org to have this added to the install cd.
