Gnome : ugly menu fonts for Qt/kde apps

  • Quote

Post by ats2 » Sun May 29, 2005 1:40 am

Hi, I have installed a very pleasant Gnome system. I emerged CUTE and eric3 for Python development but the menu font is ugly with those apps. As it installed along with the editors Qt designer, I launched this one too and discovered the same font problem - and no way to solve it.
So : how do you set these menu font for Qt apps in Gnome ?

PS : I mean : is there a Qt config file used to set Qt default font ?

BTW : is there a Gnome app for font management (kde font manager equivalent) ?

Thanks for the reply :)
Well, I installed gtk-qt-engine (with ~x86 unmasking) and rebooted. But nothing happened. What am I supposed to do to launch it ?

You are most welcome.

The thread I mentioned is for someone running running KDE.
Recall "and related threads" (i.e, a search).

If you choose to run KDE, you may find your GTK font setter in menu

Code: Select all

K  ->  Lost & Found
You can probably also run it directly by

Code: Select all

kcmshell kcmgtk
However, if you are running GNOME then I don't know that
gtk-qt-engine is what you want. My guess is that the GNOME menu
has an entry for font-adjusting.

I was just searching for the same thing:

you have to emerge polymer

then you run "qt-config" and you select polymer as a theme.
if you run polymer-config, then you can even turn transparancy on...

Add this to your ~/.qt/qtrc (create the file if it doesn't already exist)

Code: Select all

[General]
useXft=true
font=Bitstream Vera Sans,10,0,0,0,0,0,0,0
All your QT apps should now use 10 point Vera Sans (same as Gnome's default font).
