When I have opened some tabs in any web browser (Firefox or Konqueror) and want to close one tab, I usually click it with my middle mouse button. But that wants to open a web site with the text I had copied before. I principally like the way of marking some text and inserting it with the middle mouse button, but in my web browsers I want the middle mouse button to CLOSE a tab. Do you know how this is done?

This is default in Firefox on other OSs, but they followed the Linux convention of middle-click pasting on Linux. You can change this by typing about:config in the address bar and setting middlemouse.contentLoadURL to "False" (double click it). IIRC, Konqueror will have a simliarly non-gui option in KDE 3.4.
