Hi!
I have a following problem: when I boot system and log in, then after startx command everything goes ok. But when I type in gnome-session then it returns

Code: Select all

(gnome-session:9278):Gtk-WARNING: cannot open display
There's also a strange thing when I update xdm with

Code: Select all

rc-update add xdm default
and modify variable DISPLAYMANAGER="gdm"
Then everytnig goes smooth until I try to log in via welcome screen. Just after pressing Enter session ends with communicate that if I haven't logged out by myslef, then this must be some kind of a bug in instalation.

What to do with these?

Thanks for your help

I have same kind of problems with Firestarter!

I get this message when I start Firestarter-firewall with su-command: Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server

The advice that I got from other forum: do " xhost +" as a normal user - so I get a message: "access control disabled, clients can connect from any host"

And then I do in terminal:

user # firestarter
NETFILTER detected
FATAL: Module ip_tables not found.
FATAL: Module ip_conntrack not found.
FATAL: Module ip_conntrack_ftp not found.
FATAL: Module ip_conntrack_irc not found.
FATAL: Module ipt_REJECT not found.
FATAL: Module ipt_REDIRECT not found.
FATAL: Module ipt_TOS not found.
FATAL: Module ipt_MASQUERADE not found.
FATAL: Module ipt_LOG not found.
FATAL: Module iptable_mangle not found.
FATAL: Module iptable_nat not found.
Firewall started

What's wrong now because everything was as normal as it can be until yesterday? Firestarter run very well and so it do now but something isn't okey!
Can someone help me too?
