Tv-out on PVR-350

Post by Tyir » Fri Apr 22, 2005 11:08 pm

HI, I'v been struggling for hours to get the video to my TV.
I compiled ivtv from source today.
Getting video *in*, i.e. cat /dev/video0 > test.mpg works fine.
But cat test.mpg > /dev/video16, just hangs, as it should, but there is no effect on the TV.
Would anyone know where to look?

I *havn't* set up the fb stuff or anything, since I'm not trying to get X displayed on the TV, I just want to start by getting the mpeg decoder working.
I didn't touch all the module files, i.e. /etc/modules.d/mythtv, and I am just loading the modules: ivtv, saa7127, saa7115.
When I tried following guides, but playing with those files, it made my video0 give static..
Does anyone know what the difference between the saa71xx modules are? Where I should start to look?

it is possible you need to specify tuner type if you are getting only static from /dev/video0

i have an lg tuner type 39 (maybe it was 50)

as far as for video out i don't have a pvr-350 yet. i think you can use cle266 flag though for mythtv.

also make sure the cable is plugged in, hehe.

have u loaded ivtv-fb module?
it might pay to get this module loaded before tring to get the tv out to work.
on a side note ,
afaic , my setup is working well with mythtv and tv out etc...
but i tried to cat /tmp/test.mpg > /dev/video16 and nothing happens on my tv either.
im not sure whether this is correct method to get a picture over the tv output.
