can't open intenet page, i'm using adsl

can't open intenet page, i'm using adsl

hello
i'm trying to install gentoo and start to configure my network
it seems everytinhg is all right while setting up adsl.
connects correctly and adresses are ok.
but when i try to open a page like www.google.lt i get a message:host not found.
what is wrong?

Hi.

Check that you have the file /etc/resolv.conf .

It should contain the nameserver IP like this.

nameserver  123.234.124.044
nameserver  123.234.124.045
You enter all nameserver that your isp supply.

sorry that didn't work
the file was empty i wrote this two lines into, but no efect.

Well i hope you didn't use those numbers.
You have to enter the IP of the nameservers of your ISP.

Look at the papers from your ISP for nameserver settings.

it could also be the case that your ISP hands you the addresses of the nameservers on login. Your client needs to be set to accept this
