X1180 all-in-one Printer [Solved]

Hello, after some procrastination I have decided to try and install a Lexmark X1180 all-in-one printer. The printer is said to work under linux using the Z600 drivers, which of course it does. I have previously had this working on Ubuntu serveral months back. However, with Gentoo I can't seem to get my head around it without destroying my setup.

Google returned:

http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-5496.html
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions ... did=176228

I have extracted these files from the self-extracting shell script. And from alien a previously emerged package I tried to install the rpm and failed with these dependency errors:

Code: Select all

$ rpm -ivh z600llpddk-2.0-1.i386.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
        /bin/sh is needed by z600llpddk-2.0-1
        libc.so.6 is needed by z600llpddk-2.0-1
        libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.0) is needed by z600llpddk-2.0-1
        libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.1.3) is needed by z600llpddk-2.0-1
Thereafter I tried converting to targz and manually placing the files in their suited directories, this won't work (obviously). Although gnome-cups-manager did display "ready" I think that the process cannot be completed. The test page print failed.

Any answers, or ideas are much appreciated (I have a slight idea already).

[SOLVED]: Use - > http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Lexmark_Printers
Identical to what I did except this time I went into cups and clicked "start printer".
