gentoo-dev-sources >2.6.5 Input Freeze

Most of the time when I boot a kernel newer than 2.6.5, it will not accept input from the keyboard and mouse, except for 3-4 occasions when it accepted the keybaord and not the mouse. This even happens on the 2004.3 LiveCD. I have tried several subversions of the following gentoo-dev-sources releases: 2.6.7, 2.6.8, 2.6.9 and 2.6.10. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Here are my PC specifications:
Motherboard: ABIT IC7-G (i875 chipset)
CPU: Intel Pentium IV 2.8GHz
RAM: 2x Corsair 512MB DDR
Harddisk #1: Maxtor Diamond-MAX 200GB IDE
Harddisk #2: Maxtor 300GB S-ATA (Installed recently; only tested with 2.6.10)
Graphics Card: Sapphire ATI RADEON 9800PRO Atlantis, Ultimate Edition, 256MB RAM
Sound Card: Creative SoundBlaster Audigy 2 Platinum-eX
