How many of us are there?

  • Quote

Post by robnotts » Sun Jan 23, 2005 9:47 am

Looking on the BASC page, there are only 77 x86_64 systems registered... Surely there are more of us than that? So...

Code: Select all

emerge basc
basc -u
... and get yourself counted!

Basically I am curious as to how many people are using the x86_64. Just be nice to know.

Rob.

I think its a nice idea to know how many of us out there but I get the following error when I try to update the basc database:

Code: Select all

Is it ok for me to transfer this data to gentoo-stats.org?

OK, I registered. ;-) However, I was only able to to that from one of my Gentoo boxes (the AMD64 one, and that's good), on the other it complains I should re-emerce gcc. I'll do that later.

Registered too. Now we are already 83 (or 7.46 % of the 1113).

@AngelM: Change this to

Code: Select all

CPU_FREQ = int(CPU_FREQ)/1000

I just registered also. I was unaware of basc, I think that's the bigger reason so few systems are registered. I'm sure there are plenty of gentooites that would love to be counted if they knew.

I must admit, I only knew about it because I read the Gentoo Newsletter every week...

I am sure there is something in the docs about what you can choose to send or not send.

Doing well so far... gone from just 77 to 110...

Quite a few of us using gentoo on amd64 processors then, which is of course good to hear.

Gents,

Can someone post instructions on how to do this, for someone like me, who's n00b to Gentoo and to BASC... :roll:

Mercy Bow Coupe (that's french for thank you very much ;) :lol: )
Deprecating an AMD Athlon 800 who was running Debian Sid for 2 years with an AMD64 3000 running Gentoo
She's up n running (well, parts are!) Triple head KDE, Sound and connection to SMB shares so far...

Easy. Just do an "emerge basc", and then run basc. Any doubt dont hesitate to ask.
