How goes? Well? Good because it isn't for me, this is the 5th time I have installed Gentoo - great experience, but I decide to re-install it if only a single little thing goes wrong, silly me. Anyway this time I decided I would do the install with udev, so I installed idev like the guide explains, kernel settings and all, and then upon finishing the gentoo install and rebooting, I get my self some lovely errors, heres a little run down:
It gets to init
Mounts /proc etc
Then it starts mounting Sysfs on /sys and gives: Can't create lock file /etc/mtab~904: Read-Only filesystem (Use -n flag to over ride)
Then it goes onto mounting rams at /dev and configured udev - does this fine - at least says it does.
Then checks root file system:
Failed to open the device `/dev/hda3` no such file or directory
Then gives more errors:
Warning: fsck.reiserfs for device /dev/hda3 exited with Signal 6
/sbin/rc: line 250: rc_splash command not found
* filesystem couldn't be fixed
/dev/console: No such file or dir
Then allows me to do maintenance, enter pass, go in and ls /dev and all it shows is a few files including null but not console.
Hope someone has had this before and knows how to fix it so I can give it a check, if it works re-install Gentoo another time
Got to love it, fast as hell and such as well developed distro.
