firefox 1.0 and automatic evolution invoke

Before I upgraded to Firefox 1.0 I had no problen with Evolution starting up when clicking on a "mailto:" link. I didn't use mozex or scripts, it just did it and I was happy.

NOW, it doesn't do it. And I want it to, yet I can't seem to find anything in this forum, or others, that relates to my issue without having to write a script, blahblahblah.

I don't want to write a shell script.
I don't want to install mozex, it doesn't show up in preferences anyway.

I just want Evolution invoked when I click on the link.

Any takers?

hi there

hope you found the solution by now. if not - here goes ...

put something like the following into your user.js file:
user_pref("network.protocol-handler.app.mailto","/usr/bin/thunderbird");

substitute /usr/bin/thunderbird with the full path to your mail client.

the user.js file can be found in your firefox profile directory. if it does not exist, just create it.
e.g.
~/.mozilla/firefox/y3w56zc9.default/user.js

cheers
k

If you are using Gnome, you can set the preffered mail application in gnome-control-center > advanced > preffered applications. I don't use KDE, but there is a way to do it in there as well. Kaidon's solution works, but this is easier and all apps should then use evolution.
