lirc problem (lirc_gpio)

Hello all,

I have followed previous instructions in this forum to install IRC from CVS. The install went beautifully, and my card is known to work with lirc (it's a leadtek wintv xp 2000 deluxe). When I modprobe lirc_gpio, though, I get the following error:

"Error inserting lirc_gpio (...): Invalid request code."

dmesg | tail gives

lirc_gpio (-1) : could not get card type.

I maybe should mention that I never found any lirc stuff in my kernel config file despite every attempt; I enabled what I could though. I run amd64 gentoo, kernel version 2.6.7-r14.

I'd appreciate help.

You must inform lirc what card type should it use. Do it that way:
modprobe bttv card=(card type)

and then
modprobe lirc

So lirc ask bttv what card type to use, but you must inform bttv about it first.

How do you get your card type? I can't find anything in dmesg or lspci.
