KDE apps: "Unknown host"

I'm having problems accessing the network with any KDE 3.3 applications. If I try to use konqueror, any web site returns the page:

An error occurred while loading http://www.google.com:
Unknown host www.google.com

If I try and log on to MSN with Kopete I get a similar unknown host error message. If I try and access my imap email server on the LAN by its hostname I also get an unknown host error. If I try and access the email server by IP address it works normally. Everything was working fine until today, and the only thing KDE related I have changed lately is the upgrade of kdepim to 3.3.0-r1. All non KDE programs are working as normal.

edit: Logging out and back in again has fixed it.

I'm having the same problem. I've checked /etc/conf.d/net and various other files and can't seem to locate anything that is out of place.

Sounds like there may be an issue with the DNS server, accessing the DNS server, or maybe you don't have a DNS specified in "resolv.conf".
