wine install shield problem: ikernel.exe not found

Hi, I'm not really installing a game but I thought I'd post here because this is where a lot of the wine posts are. I'm installing software my school uses to communicate with students about various administrative things. Anyway, it uses installshield. I've followed directions in several other threads. I've installed dcom98.exe. And when I do wine ba2003.exe, after the install shield window pops up I get another window that says: "Error installing iKernel.exe: file not found". I have a copy of ikernel.exe that I copied over from my windows partition and I've mimiced it's location in windows. I've seen a few other posts about this problem here and in other forums, but no answer. Anybody have any ideas?

Have you tried doing the install manually? All installshield does is extract the files if it's in an archive (emerge unshield) and copy them and any other required files from the source to the install destination.

You only have to do that once, then just zip the directory and copy it to the other machines that way.

That sounds like a good idea. Can you give me some more details? So I emerge unshield (doing that now). Then I create a directory where I want the program to go, do unshield ba2003.exe, then put everything in the directory I created? Is that it?

I just tried this and got:

Was it just that simple?

I ran it and it seemed to think it was running on NT. Probably because it was expecting to see some file that was not there.

I just got the DCOM98 today so maybe this is the new M$ anti-wine filters coming in, although I doubt it.

DCOM98 can only be installed on windows 98. For NT please install latest service packs.

Any suggestions ?

PS I do have win 98 orig CD and licence if something is needed to be copied but the "other" OS is not installed on this machine.
