Hi
I think this is harware related as I can can only reproduce it when using DRI to do hardware 3D acceleration.
I have a Dell Latitude C600 with a flat panel capable of 1024x768, but the graphics card ATI Rage Mobility M3 (8Mb) is supposedly capable of driving an external display at up to 1600x1200.
If I use hardware acelleration (DRI from Xorg, r128 module from 2.6.7-gentoo-r11 (but same problem for other 2.6.X kernels) the maximum external resolution I can use is 1280x1024 with 16bit colour - more than this exceeds the memory capactity of the card.
2D applications run fine, and there are no errors in the Xorg log, but as soon as I try to start any 3D application or even glxinfo it segfaults immediately.
Is this just the limit of my graphics card or is there something I've missed?
Any help appreciated!
Huw
