As a web developer it's really handy to have several different version of the various web browsers installed on my machine so that I can test to ensure my web pages work with common browser versions.
Looking on here I see similar things have been discussed before:

These mostly deal with temporarily installing another version of a package to achieve a particular task. I would need a more permanent arrangement.
I realise there is the SLOTS functionality which could possibly achieve what I'm after but its definitely not set up to do so on the packages in question.
What do you reckon would be the easiest way to achieve this?
