Premature xdm startup

Hi,

has anyone tried to make xdm boot before other non-critical services?

xdm is the last thing that boots (that is done on purpose in the startup script), but booting could appear a lot faster if xdm was started earlier.

Services like cups, lisa, samba, etc. can all bootup after xdm has, since xdm does not rely on those services. The only problem I know of right now, is that starting xdm before agetty can result in a dead keyboard, no? Has anyone resolved this, yet?

I would be happy if it merely started before bootsplash, such that it did not flash to the console from the silent screen before starting X.
