I would not say "bug fix release". They did not fix anything. I wander why did they release KDE 3.2.2 so early. BTW, this release was schedule to be released in the first week of April!! |

you may deem that it sucks, but others love it.
so, be more courteous to others, remember, that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so what you dislike others may love.
we are blessed in the linux world with choices, so as far as wm's you have kde, gnome, xfce and many others, and this is a good thing, as it gives you a choice, and diversity is a good thing,
so instead of saying so a so wm suxs, do as the British do, and say well so and so wm is not my cup of tea, and please elaborate on it rationally, this way you can get your point of view across, and without offending anyone, aren't the British igenious?
hth
and no offence
happy gentooing

I read this and that is why I wrote my comment. Are you happy with these fixes? I am not.
I do not understand why they want to release KDE 3.3 in August, when KDE 3.2 is not ready yet. |

Well, at least this thread has grown to 8 replies without a comment about neeeeeeeding the updated ebuilds Right Now. _________________ I'm only hanging out in OTW until I get rid of this stupid l33t ranking.....Crap. That didn't work. |

I think it is not difficult. Just copy them with the suffix 3.2.2 and it should work. No major changes in this release |

I emerge sync'd and I have the new ebuilds but my quickly trying to fetch the files is only getting me 8K/s down.
A look at the changelog reveals that Knotes got the most fixes. And there's a few for Kopete and JuK too so we'll see how it goes with those.
It looks like the arts ebuild might be bad, it's tries to download from...
.......kde.org/pub/kde//stable/1.2.2/src/arts-1.2.2.tar.bz2
should be
.......kde.org/pub/kde//stable/3.2.2/src/arts-1.2.2.tar.bz2 |

Yes. Ebuild seems to be buggy... |

Arghh, I hope this compile does not take 24 hours like KDE 3.2.1. I need this one though since I am missing some buttons still in Kmail. _________________ My Company: Hakata Consulting |

|
|
In /usr/portage/kde-base/arts/arts-1.2.2.ebuild,
change:
Code: |
SRC_URI="mirror://kde/stable/${PV/1.2.1/3.2.2}/
src/${PN}-${PV}.tar.bz2"
|
to:
Code: |
SRC_URI="mirror://kde/stable/${PV/1.2.2/3.2.2}/
src/${PN}-${PV}.tar.bz2"
|
That fixed it for me and judging from the ebuild for the previous version, that should be right |

No software is really ever "ready". There are ALWAYS improvements and bug-fixes to be made.
Am I happy with the bug-fixes in 3.2.2? Hell yes! Is 3.2.1 working well for me? Hell yes!
And besides, why does 3.2 "not being ready yet" somehow stop the release of 3.3? Last time I checked, it's not August yet. By the time 3.3 ships, 3.2 will be "ready" . _________________ My tech-blog | My other blog |

Thanks
