PS/2 bug still there?

  • Quote

Post by bergs » Wed Feb 11, 2004 5:53 am

Hi

Since the kernel 2.6 test series, I have *sometimes* the following problem: The kernel boots and hangs with the message

mice: PS/2 mouse device common for all mice

I found a bug report (http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1123) and it seems to be closed.

Does anybody of you STILL experience the same problem? I'm asking this in this forum since I'm using always the benh kernels (2.6.2-r1 atm) on my PowerBook G4 867 Mhz. So it's hard to tell if the bug is in vanilla or Bens' patches.

Ideas?

I'm not familiar with the bug - I haven't had any troubles on my G4/933 box with the 2.6.1-r1 (dev) kernel.

Thanks for all the responses.

Well, since this seems to be a common problem, is there any open bug report? If not, this bug should be reopened or we need a new bug report, right?

Btw, discussing ppc kernel bugs; the other thing that happens to me is the following: My system hangs when plug-in in my Netgear MA111 USB Wireless adpater while the system is running. However, plug-in and restart works and I am able to remove it without problems, too. Just no plug-in at runtime or I risk a system freeze. Anyone experienceing this?

Today someting ugly happened to me. Normal boot, Gnome gave me lots of error messages (gnome-settings-daemon and Nautilus). The system clock was set to December 1900, and emerge sync did not work! I managed it to reset the date and time, booted again (did not help) and again and suddenly everything was fine again. UGLY!

it's not just ppc, and it's not just gentoo. i am having the same problem with linux-wlan-ng with ma111 killing keyboard control and eventually crashing the system. the problem also occurred (but more often) on ubuntu.

on a fresh boot, connecting to my router through the ma111 has a 50/50 chance of causing this problem.

i've found relatively little info on this problem online.

any ideas?
