fluxbox questions

1) what should I use to get desktop icons in fluxbox? And is there a way so theyll only show up on a certain desktop? (or can i have seperate icon sets for each desktop??)

2) how do i get fluxbg to compile? i know its masked, but when i try and emerge it I get dependancy errors. Do I need to emerge all its dependancies first or is there a way to have emerge do it?

3) I have the 5 button intellimouse, im guessing i need to edit x86config to use the extra 2 buttons?

4) Is there any way to use the scroll wheel 'click' like in windows (where you move the mouse up and down to scroll?)

Thanks!

1) idesk works pretty good for icons. But I don't think you can have separate icons on each desktop with it though... not sure how to do that.

2) Have you emerge sync'ed lately? Here's what I get:

Code: Select all

[root@kiki 10:40:22 ~] # emerge -p fluxbg

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild  N    ] dev-libs/libsigc++-1.2.5
[ebuild N ] dev-cpp/gtkmm-2.2.8
[ebuild N ] x11-misc/fluxbg-0.7

[root@kiki 10:40:37 ~] #
But I haven't tried compiling it.

3) You need to put Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" in XF86Config in the mouse section.

4) What program are you using where you want the scroll wheel to work? For me it works perfectly in Firebird and Galeon without any extra settings.

For number three I am guessing you have a mouse with more than just the two regular buttons plus a scroll wheel. Check this thread for how to get the extra mouse buttonds to work.

Hope this helps,
