Sorry about the lack of precise information in this post; I am posting this to see if maybe some other people have had a similar issue and might know how to fix it.
On both version of the 6.18 kernel available with gentoo-sources so far, they both fail to boot on my PC. 6.12.58 works fine.
The first version crashed with some error message (didn’t take a photo of it). The second version (6.18.18) seems to boot very slowly and ends up listing my SATA/SCSI(?) drives and then stops.
I have a Zen 4 CPU and motherboard: Ryzen 7800x3d CPU, MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI motherboard.
The motherboard BIOS has some updates available but their changelogs are VERY vague so I have no idea if they will fix the issue. (This motherboard is shit :( ).
For the moment I keep on using the 6.12 kernel but I wonder if the problem is on the kernel side, or on the BIOS side, or something else (my kernel config maybe).
