Organic Maps doesn't show up anymore on F-Droid with the default settings for me but it's still on there.

I haven't followed what happened, but I head that it was headed into more "capitalist" direction, so a fork was done.

Now I'm pondering if I should switch to comaps or maps.me?

maps.me just became bad after the takeover in ~2020. It sends userdata, features got removed and after the code rewrite it had tons of issues. Those were the main reasons the fork Organic Maps was made.

I didn't look into it which parts exactly became proprietary.
I'm also not up-to-date on their current limitations for free users, but there are some.

Ok. So CoMaps seems like a reasonable choice.

It's kind of funny when you look at this:

maps.me starts to capitalize -> Organic Maps in born
Organic Maps tries to capitalize -> CoMaps is born
