Hi,
I just noticed that OpenVPN-2.7 is released, which will support the ovpn Data Channel Offload module that is in-kernel since 6.16.
Until that is in portage, openvpn-2.6.* relies on the out-of-tree net-vpn/ovpn-dco module for DCO support.
My questions are:
1. Does the out-of-tree module still build against newer kernels that already contain the native module? (I am currently on gentoo-sources-6.18)
2. [If yes] In order to work, does the in-kernel ovpn module need to be removed? (Either by keeping the module unloaded, or not building it at all?)
I think 2.6 to 2.7 version bump may be a significant job for packagers (I don't see it in bugzilla yet) so I would like to try out DCO in the meantime but not if it means having to regress to a 6.15 kernel.
