OpenCL on Intel legacy iGPU

Packages that are required to take advantage of the iGPU on an Core i7-10700 (and other Intel GPUs) for OpenCL have removed support for the legacy version.

The specific packages I'm using are:

• dev-libs/intel-compute-runtime:legacy
• dev-util/intel-graphics-compiler:legacy

I don't see a clear path forward for those of us who require the support for this hardware. Could someone please explain to me what my options are to continue using this hardware for OpenCL?

Do I need to abandon Gentoo after 20+ years? If so, any suggestions as to what is a reasonable alternative distro for a KDE desktop system?

The problem seems to be Intel here, the situation is clear as mud with your particular APU it's not listed as supported on their github https://github.com/intel/compute-runtime
OpenCL always was a bit of a mess, it's not being phased out but people are just moving away from it.
What do you need it for?
