Playback Videofiles in Fullscreen runs stuttering

If i play videofiles with mpv in fullscreen, they are a little bit stuttering. if i try to play in a window, not maximize, there is no stuttering.
This problem was not all the time, some time ago, i remember that videos in full screen run perfectly.
i think i have to rebuild something, but what?
any ideas?

any ideas?
Without additional information nobody can help.

What GPU? iGPU? dGPU? Intel? AMD? Nvidia?
What CPU?
What output method is mpv using? Press "I" during play - what is the display context?
What video codec? Resolution?
What is your full screen resolution?
....

Yes.
One should always include some logs at least. dmesg, or the output of the command when ran in terminal etc...
Guidelines #4 also tell you that.

Code: Select all

init=/sbin/openrc-init
-systemd -logind -elogind seatd

Sorry for the missing Infos.

It is a Intel Xeon W1270 CPU with Intel UHD Graphics P630.

The Desktop Resolution is 2560x1600

I do start the video with mpv ghost.mkv

mpv shows me at the terminal this output:

Code: Select all

● Video --vid=1 --vlang=de 'Ghost' (hevc 3840x2160 23.976 fps) [default forced]
● Audio --aid=1 --alang=de 'German TrueHD Atmos 7.1' (truehd 8ch 48000 Hz) [default forced]
○ Audio --aid=2 --alang=de 'German AC3 5.1-EX' (ac3 6ch 48000 Hz) [default]
○ Audio --aid=3 --alang=en 'English TrueHD Atmos 7.1' (truehd 8ch 48000 Hz) [default]
○ Audio --aid=4 --alang=en 'English AC3 5.1-EX' (ac3 6ch 48000 Hz) [default]
● Subs --sid=1 --slang=de 'German Forced' (hdmv_pgs_subtitle) [default]
○ Subs --sid=2 --slang=de 'German Forced' (subrip)
○ Subs --sid=3 --slang=de 'German Forced' (dvd_subtitle)
○ Subs --sid=4 --slang=de 'German' (hdmv_pgs_subtitle)
○ Subs --sid=5 --slang=de 'German' (dvd_subtitle)
○ Subs --sid=6 --slang=en 'English' (hdmv_pgs_subtitle)
○ Subs --sid=7 --slang=en 'English' (dvd_subtitle)

I let the video play some moments and i jump a few minutes forwards, and i do this again and again in Fullscreen.

I have do two screenshots.
One with the Video in a Window, the Video plays correctly, without stuttering.
The other one stutters in full screen.

This have i installed:

media-video/mpv-0.41.0
media-libs/mesa-25.2.8
x11-drivers/xf86-video-intel-2.99.917_p20230201

It is strange why 1704x959 runs oke, no dropped frames.
And in 2560x1600 run shuttering with dropped frames.

Intel UHD Graphics P630.
ok, that's this generation https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Gra ... Comet_Lake

According to the screenshots you are playing a H265/HEVC[Main 10] video

Looking at the features of your hardware: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Gra ... algorithms

H.265/HEVC is hardware acceleration supported.

At 24fps one movie frame must be decoded in 1000/24 = ~41.6 ms to not stutter.
When you look at your "frame timings" in the screenshots,
the one that does not stutter is 36000<41000 average, the one that stutters is 50xxx>41000.

Maybe someone else has additional knowledge than Wikipedia?
