So I was migrating from py12 to py13 reading enews:

First, enable both Python 3.12 and Python 3.13, and then run the upgrade
commands:
STEP 1:
    */* PYTHON_TARGETS: -* python3_12 python3_13
    */* PYTHON_SINGLE_TARGET: -* python3_12

Then switch PYTHON_SINGLE_TARGET and run the second batch of upgrades:
STEP 2:
    */* PYTHON_TARGETS: -* python3_12 python3_13
    */* PYTHON_SINGLE_TARGET: -* python3_13

Finally, switch to the final version and upgrade:
STEP 3:
    */* PYTHON_TARGETS: -* python3_13
    */* PYTHON_SINGLE_TARGET: -* python3_13

depclean probably cleared kernel sources so my symlink was not pointing to correct /usr/src/linux
so I got errors during STEP 2. I rebuilt the kernel, restarted computer, did libtool --finish /usr/lib64 and then
resumed from STEP 2. STEP 2 went find with no errors, but STEP 3 is failing for all packages that needs rebuilt
during

Can anyone sense what went wrong?

The issue is *if you use ~arch gobject-introspection*, then you need ~arch Vala.

Are you using a testing version of the gobject-introspection package, rather than the stable version?

I was not aware of vala and it was one version old. After the update packages are getting built successfully.
Let's see if full update goes ok. Thanks for the input.

I wonder why can't portage organize so that vala is updated before other packages which have
tangential dependency to vala.

Portage can arrange that, if the ebuild dependency information says it is needed. Per sam_'s comment in the bug, there is presently no such dependency in the ebuild, and it's not straightforward to add one without enforcing a stricter relation than is needed.
