Baghira Ebuild

  • Quote

Post by lurid » Mon Dec 22, 2003 3:40 am

I've fallen in love with the Baghira theme/style. Its been updated and now includes animated scroll bars and progress bars. Its utterly beautiful. On the KDE-Look page the author as asked for a maintainer for Gentoo, so I thought I'd whip up a quick ebuild. Before I send it to him though I thought I'd post it here first for testing.

I've included both a ebuild and also a binary. The binary is compiled with -mcpu=i686 so that anyone with a reasonably modern system could install it. So if everyone can do me a favor and test it out, I'd appreciate it.

Hm. Well, if no one is interested in this maybe I won't bother maintaining a build. I guess the forums are a good gauge of popularity. ;)

I hav tested your ebuil, but it failed during configuration.
its complaining of missing all the ./installs script..etc.
its because the missing AC_CONFIG_AUX_DIR in configure.in

i only manage to install it manually, since it requires some changes manually. due to the mismatch of autoconf i think.
maybe u need to add some sort of checking and automatic comfiguration to
src_compile function inside ebuild just before run ./configure .

Oh, my bad. We all need screen shots. ;)

Here is Baghira in its default color scheme. That pretty progress bar is animated. Its hard to describe, but it looks really cool. Also the scroll bars are animated on mouse over.

Just to show the themes flexability, here is what Baghira looks like with my current color scheme.

Hm. I have no idea what that means. How embarassing, eh? How about the binary build, were you able to install that? I figured there would be some problems since all I really know is that it 'works for me'. I tried installing it on my girlfriends machine and it worked ok, but her system is built from binary packages I compiled when doing my system so its basically a 'mirror' of mine. Not really good for testing. ;)

Maybe someone can take a look at the ebuild and fix it up?

baghira is great, especially because it's improving all the time.. I made the centered tabs mode for it, but I ditched it in favor of plastik-cvs.. but I just reinstalled baghira.. it's come a long way :P

Oi!!! I'm interested! :D Just regestered to thank you for making this ebuild, for a wonderful looking theme, so I didn't have to hack up my own.

Thanks!

lurid,

shure there are people interested. i am!! definetely!! this style symply rocks. it promises to be one of the classics, that's for sure. (my all time classic it will be, anyway).

so keep on e-building

(however, can't seem to download the ebuild, so that will be for another time...)

btw, got the same errors as ry00 when trying to compile the sources from sf.net... ebuild not tried yet

Ok, I'm going to update the build to the newest version since people seem to want it. I'll also try to get an offical (developer-wise) build on the sf.net download page. You should still be able to download the original build from the link, its still on my server. I'll update the first post to reflect any updates.

ebuild fails

  • Quote

Post by astronic » Fri Jan 09, 2004 8:08 pm

First of all: Thanks for the ebuild.

Unfortunately it doesn't build on my system.

First I got some access violations on "mkdir: /usr/qt/3/etc/settings". Well, /usr/qt/3/etc didn't exist on my system so I created /usr/qt/3/etc and /usr/qt/3/etc/settings manually.

Now I'm getting the following access violations which I can't resolve by myself:

Code: Select all

open_wr: /usr/qt/3/etc/settings/.qt_plugins_3.2rc.lock
open_wr: /usr/qt/3/etc/settings/qt_plugins_3.2rc.tmp

I'm assuming this is with the ebuild. Can you install the binary at all? I'm thinking it might be easier to distribute a binary.

If you're compiling it from source, be sure that you configure it with the --prefix option

Code: Select all

./configure --prefix=/usr
ebuilds do away with some of the more annoying aspects of compiling from source since its automated. Baghira has been updated since the version I have linked here, so I'm going to start over and make a new ebuild of the new version. Hopefully I can get the kinks ironed out.

I'm still looking for feedback on the binary included with the tarball. Copy the ebuild to your overlay and move the tbz to your packages dir and emerge -k baghira. Might be easier than compiling.

Get it from http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/bagh ... 2?download and put it in /usr/portage/distfiles!

I would very much like to get Baghira working under Gentoo, but I haven't been able to 'emerge' the ebuild.

I've copied the ebuild-file extracted from baghira.tar.bz2 to /usr/portage/distfiles. Then, I did 'emerge /usr/portage/distfiles/baghira-0.3m.ebuild'.

I then get an error message, saying that the ebuild /usr/portage/portage/baghira/baghira-0.3m.ebuild can't be found.

What can be wrong?

I'm sorry for the mistake i made in my ebuild, I had the file already in distfiles so I didn't notice.

Today Baghira Version: 0.3n-1 was released, so here is the ebuild

extract it in your local portage overlay ( /usr/local/portage) and emerge baghira.

EDIT: This ebuild doesn't compile right now.. I'm working on it
EDIT2: It should compile fine now, it does on my box

Have Fun,
