Low battery warnings

Is there any way to get an event fired when the ACPI subsystems discovers my battery capacity has dropped to, say, 5%? I'd like to use xosd and beep to alert me to that fact, seeing as I rarely remember to look at my pretty gdesklet battery monitor. :-) I know I could write a daemon to continously poll /proc/acpi/battery, and/or modify the code in the desklet that does the same, but is there a better way?

Well... I run that already; but how do I get it to tell me my battery has dropped to a certain level? Certainly, that'd be what I'm looking for - if I could get an acpid event to fire off a script when my battery has reached, say, 5% capacity, I could do all manner of cool stuff.
