Ctrl+C or "quit" has no effect. Obviously, not having enough space in /var/tmp for a (much larger than expected) compile was my fault, but I still think that portage should exit normally (without having to kill it from another shell). :)

Unfortunately running out of disk space does not allow for a clean shutdown and I believe that deficiency is in python, not in portage. Sometimes the language can be a bit constricting.
First things first, but not necessarily in that order.

Apologies if I take a while to respond. I'm currently working on the dematerialization circuit for my blue box.

Got the same problem rebuilding palemoon after gcc update. By the way previous gcc didn't take so much memory.
Typing

Code: Select all

exit
and run it (arrow up as in bash and "Enter") several times stopped debugger and emerging. Now I can e.g. clean my /var/tmp/portage and make it bigger in tmpfs.

But it was a bad joke - open a debugger (absolutely unknown for me) when ended disk space. "Exit" was just my guess, I also tried "quit", "stop" and typical key combinations.
