-UD world --> DEPEND/*DEPEND Depgraph creation failed

Problems with emerge or ebuilds? Have a basic programming question about C, PHP, Perl, BASH or something else?

Howdy

Any ideas why the following is happening. I tried removing phpmyadmin, but the same error came up about php 4.3.4

oot@obsidian budgee # emerge -UD world
>>> --upgradeonly implies --update... adding --update to options.
Calculating world dependencies |
emerge: there are no masked or unmasked ebuilds to satisfy "sys-apps/bzip2".

!!! Problem with ebuild dev-db/phpmyadmin-2.5.4
!!! Possibly a DEPEND/*DEPEND problem.

!!! Depgraph creation failed.

Regards

run `emerge regen` and try again, it's a problem in the metadata cache (should be fixed by now).

hey

i came here cos i've been having the same problem.

if you use the kde cvs ebuilds they are most likely the cause of the problem. download the latest ones from http://dev.gentoo.org/~caleb/kde-cvs.html and that should sort out your problem

I made a symlink from /usr/portage/app-arch/bzip2 to sys-apps/bzip2 and that fixed it for long enough to merge 29 new updates. How could bzip2 have move from app-arch to sys-apps?

I have done a regen now - hopefully that will solve the problem (I cannot test it now, as the above provided a crude fix.)

I'm having similar problems. I guess that someone misspelled "sys-devel" for autoconf
in some way?

emerge regen or emerge sync does not work at the moment.
  • # emerge -Up world
    >>> --upgradeonly implies --update... adding --update to options.

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

    Calculating world dependencies |
emerge: there are no masked or unmasked ebuilds to satisfy "sys-devl/autoconf".

    !!! Problem with ebuild net-misc/wget-1.8.2-r3
    !!! Possibly a DEPEND/*DEPEND problem.

    !!! Depgraph creation failed.

Yep. at least wget-1.8.2-r3.ebuild had dependency for "sys-devl/autoconf", I changed it to "sys-devel/autoconf" and everything was running smooth again. Just an ebuild typo, fix it and enjoy the life. :D

edit: MY typo

the wget ebuild is currently broken, should be fixed in a few hours. If you want to fix it yourself edit "sys-devl/autoconf" to "sys-devel/autoconf" in the wget ebuild.

Code: Select all

bash-2.05b# emerge -up world

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating world dependencies |
emerge: there are no masked or unmasked ebuilds to satisfy "sys-devl/autoconf".

I see that this problem here has already been found, fixed it my self..

Hello,

I had the same problem after "emerge --pretend world" - but the strange thing was, that an
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge --pretend world
did its job without failure ...

In my panic, a link from sys-devel to sys-devl in /usr/portage/ was done, and everything worked again. Thanks alot for your tipp with the wget.

Greetings - anz

the wget version i have after emerge sync is 1.8-r3 , but in packages.gentoo.org it appears to be 1.9 since both 1.8-r2 and r3 are Masked.

It should be a question of updating the mirrors

Yeah, it's just a question of updating the mirrors, which raises a question
for me:

Why am I bothering with mirrors that can't be bothered to sync every day?

Just rm -rf'ed, sync'ed, and regen'ed with two different mirrors and still
have the problem.

Typing this at 11:12 PST on WED., Nov. 19th.
