Problems with emerge or ebuilds? Have a basic programming question about C, PHP, Perl, BASH or something else?

[SOLVED] Broken Python Django and thus Portage

Hello,

By mistake I updated django from PIP. This resulted in Portage being broken and many other apps. The mistake that is given is the following:

Code: Select all

[django]
    check
    compilemessages
    createcachetable
    dbshell
    diffsettings
    dumpdata
    flush
    inspectdb
    loaddata
    makemessages
    makemigrations
    migrate
    runserver
    sendtestemail
    shell
    showmigrations
    sqlflush
    sqlmigrate
    sqlsequencereset
    squashmigrations
    startapp
    startproject
    test
    testserver
Note that only Django core commands are listed as settings are not properly configured (error: Requested setting INSTALLED_APPS, but settings are not configured. You must either define the environment variable DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE or call settings.configure() before accessing settings.).

How can I fix that?

Thank you in advance!!!

Fixed it reinstalling django as described here: [topic=1006016]https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-1006016.html[/topic].

[Moderator edit: per hint from the next poster down, replaced the implicit link (which implicitly linked the wrong thing due to a trailing period) with an explicit topic link. -Hu]

I too am having this issue and was unable to follow the link. I've tried searching the forums and other google results, but I can't seem to nail down the correct keywords to use. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

*Edit*
The link in the above post returns a 404 when clicked... If you remove the period at the end it works.
