I notice a lack of acknowledgment about gentoo when it comes to the web pages from the programmers of applications. They often list off support for other distros but not Gentoo. There has never been a need to list Gentoo since Gentoo users get ther apps through the friendly portage 'emerge' system anyways. But, from a noob/non-gentoo user standpoint, Gentoo is lacking of presence and appears unsupported. Possibly even application designers are so deep in development that they don't have time to follow the latest and greatest in the world of linux distributions, and also are missing Gentoo's presence.
So I propose a gentoo package advocacy campaign. If you see a web site for one of your favorite ebuilds and the developer site lists off support for other distros but not Gentoo, kindly send them a note along with a link to the online gentoo package database with their app. They will be happy to see their work is available, and will easily put up the supplied link for all the multi-distro community to see.

Here is an example email that I sent to the Totem people:
Here is the URL for Gentoo's Totem package page so that you can include Gentoo in the list of available distros that use Totem.
Great app. Thanks.
