XGL & Gnome - White screen problem

Try to run only beryl-manager at startup. I had the same problem and I solve it deleting the "beryl-start" line in my autostart script.

I've glproto in his latest version, so it isn't his fault I think.

beryl-manger starts beryl immediately and the cube is white. So this does not help.

I upgraded again today and still no luck. Does anyone have a solution for that white cube problem?

..hey dudes...

I have the same problem....white cube after starting startxgl script. But I saw something strange. I saw my wallpaper blinking before the cube went white. And I experimentet arround a bit...
I figured out, that if I run the startxgl script and after that beryl my wallpaper appeared on the white cube. Currently I dont know if i messed up the plugins or saomething else...
Someone with more experience shuld check this out....startxgl-quinn

Tried the patch and it crashes X on start =( I checked the rc2 release and it doesn't look like that patch made it in there.

I have also a white problem, I use XGL/compiz/KDE. My video card is an ATI 9700 M11. I use a ATI driver 8.30.3.

When I start compiz, using the startxgl script. I can see my desktop. First problem, kicker is grey. I can switch desktop and see the cube stuff. Then if I start konqueror, it almost looks okay but konqueror window has no border and no top bar. When I start moving konqueror window, the window gets white. If I do some few more things entire desktop eventually become entirely white!

I tried this trick :

I thinking in compiling again glproto libdrm mesa xgl and compiz

If I run
Xgl :1 -ac -accel glx:pbuffer -accel xv:pbuffer -fp /usr/share/fonts/misc,/usr/share/fonts/other_fonts

I got a entirely grey window which looks like nothing is displayed inside the window...

That bug is fixed in latest version of xorg-server.

Hooray, it works!!!

Seems mesa 6.5.2 + xorg-server 1.1.9.903 & Hanno's patch does the trick for me. Works beautifully on both my amd64 G965 box and x86 ati R300 laptop. Lets hope the xorg people include the patch in the final 7.2 release.

I installed Seems mesa 6.5.2 + xorg-server 1.1.9.903, it didn't work much better here. Not white but it just hangs very fast

Now that I check I'm unsure who the author is, but it was Hanno who mentioned it on the xorg mailing list. This patch is included in xorg-server-1.1.99.903-r1. Previously I wasn't getting any alpha channels making the borders around all my windows black.
