I seem to remember having this problem some time ago, and it was due to not having motif in my use flags when I compiled kde.
but I HAVE motif in my use flags :(

You need to add the following to /etc/portage/package.unmask:

Code: Select all

>=kde-base/kde-3.2.0
>=kde-base/kdeaddons-3.2.0
>=kde-base/kdeartwork-3.2.0
>=kde-base/kdelibs-3.2.0
>=kde-base/kdebase-3.2.0
>=kde-base/kdenetwork-3.2.0
>=kde-base/kdemultimedia-3.2.0
>=kde-base/kdepim-3.2.0
>=kde-base/kdegames-3.2.0
>=kde-base/kdetoys-3.2.0
>=kde-base/kdeutils-3.2.0
>=kde-base/kde-i18n-3.2.0
>=kde-base/arts-1.2.0
>=kde-base/kde-i18n-3.2.0
>=kde-base/kdeadmin-3.2.0
>=kde-base/kdebindings-3.2.0
>=kde-base/kdegraphics-3.2.0
>=kde-base/kdesdk-3.2.0
Then just do:

Code: Select all

ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" sudo emerge kde
and it should work.

Does this mean that it will be compiled as x86? I have an athlon and I would rather have be compiled as such.....

No, ~x86 is the designation for any x86-compatible cpu (such as Intel and AMD). The athlon distinction gets made in your /etc/make.conf.

I'm emerging 3.2.1 right now! Going to see if the bug that I forgot to report has fixed itself. ;-)

I am kind tired to make sense of what I am reading. The licenses drive me crazy.
However, thanks for the links, I did not know.

The new license, under which XFree86 4.4 was releeased, is inconsistent with GPL. Several distributions have said they will not include XFree86 because of it, so people are starting to look a lot harder at what the opendesktop.org people are working on, and even at more extreme alternatives like Y windows (though that's not ready for prime time just yet).

I'm pretty sure it's http://freedesktop.org, not opendesktop.org

And I did emerge it with +motif.

plugins for konqueror are in kdeaddons. Try re-emerging that and see if it helps.

@Gavrila Yes this is the versione that I'm talking about is 3.2.1

Yesterday I've compiled some packages with qt-3.3.1-r1, the plugin was OK, but I can't say the same thing of kget and other little problem!

Now for the joy of my CPU I'm finishing to compile KDE 3.2.1 with the qt-3.2.3-r1 and the plug-in are OK

I checked immediatly the plugin, because in the 3.2.0 they don't work for me!

Okay, I know there is a simple fix to this but this morning simple things seem difficult. I cannot emerge KDE since kgpg is being blocked. Show I emerge -C kgpg and then emerge kde? I am not sure if KGPG is included with KDE 3.2.

Code: Select all

bash-2.05b# ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge -p kde

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies ...done!
[blocks B     ] app-crypt/kgpg (from pkg kde-base/kdeutils-3.2.1)
[ebuild     U ] kde-base/arts-1.2.1 [1.2.0]
[ebuild     U ] kde-base/kdelibs-3.2.1 [3.2.0]
[ebuild     U ] kde-base/kdebase-3.2.1 [3.2.0]
[ebuild     U ] kde-base/kdenetwork-3.2.1 [3.2.0]
[ebuild     U ] kde-base/kdepim-3.2.1 [3.2.0-r2]
[ebuild     U ] kde-base/kdemultimedia-3.2.1 [3.2.0]
[ebuild     U ] kde-base/kdeaddons-3.2.1 [3.2.0]
