Every time I reboot my laptop my audio is muted because my HEADPHONES volume is constantly resetting to volume 0. The headphones which are not plugged in and which are muted must have their volume level adjusted off zero or my entire systems audio is muted.
This to me is like having to flip the light switch on in my bedroom or my car in the driveway wont start lol
How do I fix this?

Don't know if this applies to you, but under openrc there is a /etc/init.d/alsasound service that saves and restores sound levels across reboots (if so configured in /etc/conf.d/alsasound).
