[SOLVED]Need help with resolving dependency conflict

This forum covers all Gentoo-related software not officially supported by Gentoo. Ebuilds/software posted here might harm the health and stability of your system(s), and are not supported by Gentoo developers. Bugs/errors caused by ebuilds from overlays.gentoo.org are covered by this forum, too.

Hi. Total newbie here learning portage. I just ran into a dependency conflict that I'm not quite sure how to proceed.

Upon running the following commands:

Code: Select all

emerge --sync
emerge --ask --verbose --update --newuse --deep @world
I am running into the following message:

Code: Select all

WARNING: One or more updates/rebuilds have been skipped due to a dependency conflict:

sys-auth/polkit-qt:0

(sys-auth/polkit-qt-0.200.0-r1-1:0/0::gentoo, binary scheduled for merge) USE="" ABI_X86="(64)" conflicts with
    sys-auth/polkit-qt[qt6] required by (sys-auth/hyprpolkitagent-0.1.3:0/0.1::hyproverlay, installed) USE="" ABI_X86="(64)"
                       ^^^
I tried both

Code: Select all

emerge --deselect sys-auth/polkit-qt
emerge --depclean sys-auth/polkit-qt
emerge --ask sys-auth/polkit-qt
and

Code: Select all

emerge --deselect sys-auth/hyprpolkitagent
emerge --depclean sys-auth/hyprpolkitagent
emerge --ask sys-auth/hyprpolkitagent
but I have not been able to emerge the conflicting update.

Thanks in advvance.

That looks to me like the hyprpolkitagent ebuild needs to be updated to 'know' that polkit-qt, when the Qt 6 USE flag is missing from the ebuild, actually always has Qt 6, i.e. it should depend on "polkit-qt[qt6(+)]". File a bug with ::hyproverlay.

Thank you very much for this information. Marking solved and filing bug report.
