[Solved] emerge stuck at github login

Hi Folks, I recently attempted to start the updated process with emerge --sync, and got this message:

!!! git fetch error in /var/db/repos/vifino-overlay

Where XXXX stands in for my github login. So, it looks like github no longer allows this kind of username password login?

But, there's a second issue also: I don't actually have the vifino overlay installed. I used to, and I thought I'd removed it. Checking with eselect seems to confirm this:

eselect repository list  | grep vifino
  [385] vifino-overlay # (https://github.com/vifino/vifino-overlay)

vifino was the first overlay I ever tried to setup, and honestly I'm still an overlay newbie, so probably I messed up when I removed it.

I'd be grateful for any help or advice on either of these points.

As announced in https://www.gentoo.org/support/news-ite ... moval.html , most gentoo-mirror repositories were removed.
Please delete and recreate the repo. The news item has details.
