xscreensaver no longer runs electricsheep

After a world update a couple days ago, xscreensaver no longer runs electric sheep. I get a black screen for ten seconds or so, and then see my desktop blurred (which I assume is the compositor). I can run electricsheep directly from the console (where it notably displays video spread across the entire virtual desktop, rather than two mirrored screens like xscreensaver does), and I can also run other screensavers without issue.

There is a recent PR on the electricsheep github that talks about switching from glee to glew, but I don't know how to make use of it. How else might I debug this?

It appears you installed this from stefantalpalaru's overlay and have a current conversation in progress with him about this very same issue:

Maybe he will respond to you there or join your conversation here. Either way, this seems like an issue that you should continue to work out with him since he is the ebuild maintainer. You only posted your last response to him 37 minutes ago there at github so maybe try being patient and allow him more time to respond.
(EDIT: In case you haven't seen it, within minutes he responded to you with instructions on how to add the patches that he wants you to test to his ebuild in your local overlay)

Sorry for the double posting. I had a suspicion that since electricsheep was running fine on its own when invoked from the console, it might not be an issue with that package, but with some other (xscreensaver, maybe?).

I'll stick to my conversation with the maintainer over on github and report back if it's anything gentoo-specific.

Hey I was able to get electrisheep working with xscreensaver.

The trick is, it wants the window-id in hex.
