xfce4-power-manager fails to resume screen brightness

After going to PYTHON_TARGETS: python3_13 for most packages and then updating my system to amd64(~240 packages) xfce's power manager fails to turn screen on after lid has been opened. Screen stays black with backlight off.
Its possible to do CTRL+ALT+F2 and switch to tty2 and then kill xfce4-power-manager, then go to tty1 with X session started and close lid again(causing suspend2ram with default logind configuration) to enter X session... Even with screensaver\locker disabled screen stays black but allows keyboard input to X programs, terminals,etc.
As a temporary workaround I disabled xfce4-power-manager in Settings -> Session and Startup -> Application Autostart and made the following changes to logind.conf

Code: Select all

HandleLidSwitch=lock
HandleLidSwitchExternalPower=lock
HandleLidSwitchDocked=lock
Another issue was xfce4-panel failing to show up on eDP1, setting Output to Automatic in Panel preferences fixed this...
Anyone having troubles with xfce4? I tried downgrading countless acpi\power\xfce4 packages but couldn't fix it other way...

I'm on lenovo T480, openrc 23.0 profile

Power manager -> Display -> Let the power manager control DPMS...
Not sure if there was regression in xfce4-power-manager or I enabled this option by accident. It seems to be what caused issues.

xrandr --auto fixes the issue, too. But it's rather awkward to type that in blindly, or set-up a screen reactivation shortcut.

I could solve that very same issue with...
  • Deactivate Power Manager > Display > Let power manager control DPMS
  • Define and apply a display profile
Tempus fugit.
