I have a microsoft lifecam webcam, which works adequately within all apps attempting to use a webcam (eg zoom, kamoso, and others), however, it never shows up in the kde Camera Indicator applet, and I'd really like to keep track of camera usage, especially as the camera's light stays on after I've finished a zoom meeting.
I've followed the Gentoo wiki page on webcams, and cross-referenced with the Arch wiki page on the same - nothing I've done seems to have changed the situation. Dolphin also shows "folder is empty" when navigating to `camera:/` so I'm assuming I'm missing some secret kde/plasma glue here. I'd appreciate any help - I've looked at USE flags for plasma-desktop (owns Camara Indicator), libgphoto2 has support baked in for every camera in the USE list, and, as I say, I can use the camera fine in applications (and control it via qv4l2)
Online searches (some of which have come to forums.gentoo.org) haven't been fruitful either. Any assistance / ideas of where to look next appreciated.
