Heads-up:gui-apps/espanso::guru is wayland vs X11 exclusive

This forum covers all Gentoo-related software not officially supported by Gentoo. Ebuilds/software posted here might harm the health and stability of your system(s), and are not supported by Gentoo developers. Bugs/errors caused by ebuilds from overlays.gentoo.org are covered by this forum, too.

Code: Select all

[I] gui-apps/espanso
     Available versions:  (~)2.2.2[2] (~)2.2.3[1] {debug +filecaps wayland}

Code: Select all

equery u espanso
[ Legend : U - final flag setting for installation]
[ : I - package is installed with flag ]
[ Colors : set, unset ]
 * Found these USE flags for gui-apps/espanso-2.2.3:
 U I
 - - debug : Enable extra debug codepaths, like asserts and extra output. If
you want to get meaningful backtraces see https://wiki.gentoo.o
                rg/wiki/Project:Quality_Assurance/Backtraces
+ + filecaps : Use Linux file capabilities to control privilege rather than
set*id (this is orthogonal to USE=caps which uses capabilities
                at runtime e.g. libcap)
 - - wayland : Enable dev-libs/wayland backend
However when I first installed with USE=wayland in openrc configuration, launch under X11 was rejected claiming current configuration requires to be launched from wayland environment.

Painful here, as here is Wayland + X11.

So metadata.xml could be improved in this respect to emphasize this excluding behavior ...

Let's hope app will evolve to provide a launch switch to support dual mode.

Besides, app provides a nice way to get dynamic Y/M/D-H:M:S whatever editor is used here.
20 MB ram remains a bit costly in my humble opinion....

Thks 4 ur attention, interest & support.
USE="-* ..." in /etc/portage/make.conf here, i.e. a countermeasure to portage implicit braces, belt & diaper paradigm
