Pipewire camera support for Kamoso, Firefox and IMs

This forum covers all Gentoo-related software not officially supported by Gentoo. Ebuilds/software posted here might harm the health and stability of your system(s), and are not supported by Gentoo developers. Bugs/errors caused by ebuilds from overlays.gentoo.org are covered by this forum, too.

Pipewire camera support for Kamoso, Firefox and IMs

I was finally able to get the IPU6 camera on a Lenovo X1 Carbon to work. I had to install the Intel USB IO drivers via DKMS, apply some kernel patches from the Fedora project to Gentoo sources and install media-video/pipewire as well as media-libs/libcamera from the overlay EnillienMottet.

Now, I can finally grab a video with QCam from the IPU6 camera. QCam is part of media-libs/libcamera, so the kernel/driver side works. :D Also wpctrl looks good and reports the "Built-in front camera (OVTI08F4:00)". :D

However, no other userland application than QCam is able to find the camera (Kamoso, Firefox, Chrome, Chromium, IMs, etc.) I forcefully enabled Pirewire support in Firefox with about:config media.webrtc.camera.allow-pipewire and in Chrome with chrome://flags/#enable-webrtc-pipewire-capturer, but this had no effect.

What am I missing? From my understanding the userland application should be compiled with libcamera support on Gentoo. So when libcamera finds the camera and can use it, so should these applications. Any ideas?
