Search functionality comment - SOLVED

I'm organizing my past postings marking them at the end of Subject field "- SOLVED" or "- CLOSED". However when I put "CLOSED" and my user name in the two search fields it does not produce the expected result.

If I put just my user name it does retrieve all my past postings. adding CLOSED or SOLVED should show those. I expect that Total(jankom) = Total(jankom, CLOSED)+Total(jankom(OPEN) + <still open>. If all were either CLOSED or SOLVED then <still open>=0 Is this correct?
If so, is there a way to use negating method, such as (!OPEN and !CLOSED) in oder to discover lingering past topics, to find out <still open> items?

Those words in the title of posts have no meaning whatsoever to the Forums software; they're just a convention we use. Also, alas it's not news that the Forums search functionality is weak. You can do somewhat better with Google by including "site:forums.gentoo.org -CLOSED" in your search term along with some other identifying terms.

gosh, it's annoying that this link isn't available in the

profile.php?mode=editprofile

button on the forum nav bar, and that

doesn't work without a 'u=' parameter like 'editprofile' does.
