simple-scan cannot save the scanned file[SOLVED]

  • Quote

Post by sumati » Tue Apr 22, 2025 3:12 pm

When I ran:

Code: Select all

simple-scan
, both as root and as user, I got warning: libEGL warning: DRI2: failed to authenticate. The simple-scan can still open and scan, but the scanned file cannot be saved, it says: Failed to save file, image type "jpeg" is not supported. I use HP LaserJet Professional M1132 MFP, printer works well. Any suggestion to solve the problem?

I found something, not a solution but a bypass: I can click to print the scanned file, when the print window pop up, I click "Preview" and download to save the file. The result is the same.

If you want to use jpeg everywhere, which is a good thing to have, then ensure that jpeg is in make.conf's USE or selected by the desktop profile.
This can be verified by using emerge --info

simple-scan uses gdk, so you need to add jpeg for x11-libs/gdk-pixbuf

many thanks to both of you! After reinstalling x11-libs/gdk-pixbuf with USE="jpeg", I can now download and save the scanned file. Although by starting simple-scan the warning "libEGL warning: DRI2: failed to authenticate" still appears, but that does not disturb me.
