Which overlay for gui-wm/labwc

This forum covers all Gentoo-related software not officially supported by Gentoo. Ebuilds/software posted here might harm the health and stability of your system(s), and are not supported by Gentoo developers. Bugs/errors caused by ebuilds from overlays.gentoo.org are covered by this forum, too.

Which overlay for gui-wm/labwc

I have been using the wayland-desktop overlay for the gui-wm/labwc package, per the Gentoo wiki Labwc page.

As far as I can tell, the wayland-desktop overlay has not been updated since 2024-09-21. Consequently, my gui-wm/labwc package is no longer being updated.

According to the zugaina site, there are currently three overlays containing the gui-wm/labwc package:
  • wayland-desktop (labwc-0.8.0)
  • guru (labwc-0.8.2)
  • pg_overlay (labwc-0.8.2)
My question is, should I now be using a different overlay for the gui-wm/labwc package?

There is a PR to update labwc to 0.8.2 at the wayland-desktop overlay ( https://github.com/bsd-ac/wayland-desktop/pull/119 ) so this is still the best place to pull it from.
Personally I manage this ebuild locally
#define HelloWorld int
#define Int main()
#define Return printf
#define Print return
#include <stdio>
HelloWorld Int {
Return("Hello, world!\n");
Print 0;

[SOLVED] Which overlay for gui-wm/labwc

I note that the Gentoo wiki Labwc page has since been modified. It now provides a link to various overlays providing Labwc, rather than specifying the wayland-desktop overlay.

Consequently, I have switched from the wayland-desktop overlay to the guru overlay.

Problem solved.
