Your /etc/default/grub file content looks like what grub.cfg should be instead

Are you sure you didn't run

Code: Select all

# grub-mkconfig -o "/etc/default/grub"
instead of

Code: Select all

# grub-mkconfig -o "/path/to/grub.cfg"
at some point?

I would uninstall sys-boot/grub, remove old grub dirs/files in ESP, then install it again. Run grub-install again, then edit /etc/default/grub.

Code: Select all

# grub-mkconfig -o "/path/to/grub.cfg"
should work as expected then.

Yes, I am sure.
Also I can't install grub. Tried to delete that file and to replace with another, but I have problem that /etc/default/grub is always changing to other value.

Thank you.

I have been using Void linux and Grub so I am entering into Gentoo via grub generated from Void.
